A*Teens: Teen Spirit Album Review

The first band I ever listened to was the A*Teens when they had released their cover of ABBA's "Dancing Queen" from their first album, "The Abba Generation".  That album was the first I ever bought.  I continued listening to them when "Teen Spirit" was released but then I stopped listening to them after being hooked to other bands and artists.  Five years I went on itunes and one of the recommended album was A*Teens' "Teen Spirit".  I was shocked and after I quickly re-bought "Teen Spirit" (I lost my first one when I was moving to a new house) I went on wikipedia because I was curious what happened to them.  I found out that they released a third album, "Pop 'til You Drop", a reworked version of that album called "New Arrival", and a "Greatest Hits" album before breaking up.  I was sad but after listening to those albums I felt a little better.  But enough about being sad, so here's my track by track review of their second album, "Teen Spirit".

1) Upside Down: The first single from the album.  For some odd reason here in the U.S., as well as Canada, the song was titled "Bouncing Off the Ceiling (Upside Down)".  This was also the first time the boys in the band, Dhani and Amit, had sang since the first album only had the girls, Marie and Sara singing.  10/10

2) ...to the Music: Apparently this was the fourth single from the album.  I'm not sure why it was but I didn't really like this song much at all.  It was only released to radio and never had a video.  This was probably because the A*Teens had released "Heartbreak Lullaby" as a single from "The Princess Diaries" soundtrack.  7/10

3) Halfway Around the World: The second single from the album.  I always loved it as a kid and as I got older I could relate to the song when a couple of my friends would move.  It's still an amazing song to this day in my opinion.  10/10

4) Firefly: This is my favorite song on the album.  Funny enough it was my favorite song on the album when i was a kid too.  Then one day I found out that this song was the fifth and final single from the album.  I was shocked.  But when I found out that the video shoot was cancelled and that the song wasn't released to radio I got annoyed.  It's a way better song than "...to the Music" but I at least it was a single even if it wasn't well known as the others.  Anyway this song is an amazing ballad that I think everyone can relate too.  10/10

5) Sugar Rush: The third single from the album.  It was also the third and final single to have a video support it.  I'm not sure whether it was their version that came out first or if they covered the song from boy band "Dream Street".  Either way I liked the A*Teens version way better.  10/10

6) Rockin': An upbeat song.  I love this song still to this dance.  It's a fun one to dance to.  I wish it was a single.  10/10

7) Around the Corner of Your Eye: Starts off with an acoustic guitar with a pop beat that comes in a little later.  It's overall an amazing ballad showcasing the girl's vocals perfectly.  10/10

8) Slammin' Kinda Love: I used to hate this song as a kid and would always skip it.  A few years later I started liking it especially the ending when the chorus was a little more upbeat.  10/10

9) All My Love: I hated this song too as a kid.  I like it a little bit but after the last song, it's kind of boring and bland.  7/10

10) For All That I Am: Another ballad.  Unlike "Firefly" and "Around the Corner of Your Eye", "For All That I Am" doesn't standout as a great ballad, it's just okay compared to those two.  8/10

11) That's What (It's All About): I loved the song as a kid but over the years I feel like it was an outtake of a Britney Spears song that was never released.  It's still pretty good.  9/10

12) Morning Light: The music to this song is a little strange (although compared to music that's been released these days it's normal).  This was also a cover song, the original was performed by E-Type.  E-Type's version is okay but I still prefer the A*Teens version more.  10/10

13) Back For More: Another awesome song.  It's one of my favorites and I love the first lyric, "I know I might seem weird, one day I'm around the next I disappear".  10/10

14) Don't Even Know Your Name: On some versions of the album this was included as a hidden bonus track.  It's an amazing ballad that could be included in a romance movie.  10/10

The A*Teens were my favorite band as a kid and even though they may not reunite and release new music, It's great listening to their old albums.  My favorite songs are: "Firefly", "Rockin'", "Around the Corner of Your Eye", "Sugar Rush", "Back For More", "Halfway Around the World", "Upside Down", "Don't Even Know Your Name", "Slammin' Kinda Love", and "Morning Light".  Out of 140 points I give the album 131 points which is 93%, an A.  No surprise since the A*Teens rule!

Michelle Branch: Hotel Paper Album Review

In 2000 Michelle Branch had self-produced and released "Broken Bracelet", but it wasn't until she released her first official album, "The Spirit Room" that she achieved success.  "The Spirit Room" had three hit singles: "Everywhere", "All You Wanted", and "Goodbye to You".  That success continued the grammy winning song, "The Game of Love (with Santana)".  Her second album, "Hotel Paper", which I'll be reviewing today, was released in 2003.  After "Hotel Paper" she formed country band "The Wreckers", with recording artist and friend Jessica Harp.  The Wreckers split in 2007 so the girls could focus on solo careers.  Michelle then worked on what would've been her first country and third album "Everything Comes and Goes" but the album was pushed back a few times and eventually was released as a six-track ep, although some sites have said a promo cd with 13 tracks had been sent out.  It was then announced that Michelle would release her next album "West Coast Time", which would return her to her pop/rock roots since "Everything Comes and Goes" was country.  Unfortunately "West Coast Time" was pushed back so many times and was going to finally be released in Spring 2013 but it wasn't.  It seems like Michelle has moved on from that album and is working on a new one.  Hopefully this one will get released.  But anyway here's my track by track review.

1) Intro: It's only a few seconds long and was used as the intro to the "Are You Happy Now?" video.  Despite it being on the album I won't be doing a score for it so instead of being out of 130 points the album will be out of 120.

2) Are You Happy Now?: The first single from the album.  The gained a grammy nomination for "Best Female Rock Vocal".  I love this song so much.  It was her getting her anger out and to now it's one of her most played songs on radio.  10/10

3) Find Your Way Back: "Are You Happy Now?" was more angry rock, while the next song "Find Your Way Back" was a happy pop/rock song that a lot of people can relate to.  Not sure why it wasn't a single.  10/10

4) Empty Handed: "I'm packing my bags 'cause I don't wanna be, the only one who's drowning in their misery."  That's part of the chorus and it's strange to think that I hated the song until after a horrible week I could relate to it and love it.  The "la da da da" part always gets stuck in my head.  10/10

5) Tuesday Morning: A beautifully sung and written song.  I love the "Please don't drive me home tonight, cause I don't want to be alone" part.  She performed an acoustic version of the song on youtube and it still sounds amazing.  10/10

6) One of These Days: Ever have one of those days where you want your ex to come back and get back together with you?  Well that's what this song is about.  Good song.  8/10

7) Love Me like That (featuring Sheryl Crow): Michelle Branch and Sheryl Crow doing a song together?  AWESOME!  The song is amazing and in a way it's a lighter, country-like version of "Are You Happy Now?" but it's still amazing.  Why wasn't it a single?  10/10

8) Desperately: I love this song and I was surprised when I hear that Jessica Harp did backing vocals for this song.  It's about fighting your feelings for someone you really.  I think everyone can relate that one.  10/10

9) Breathe: The second single on the album.  This is my favorite song on the whole album.  Whenever I'm having a bad day this song puts me into a good mood.  The second verse is my favorite "Well it's all so overrated, you're not saying how you feel.  So you end up watching chances fade and wondering what's real".  10/10

10) Where Are You Now?: There are a lot of ways to interpret this song.  Some think it's about wondering how long until you find your soulmate, while I interpret the song as not seeing a friend and wondering if you'll ever see them again.  But that's my interpretation of the song.  Michelle also wrote this song by herself.  10/10

11) Hotel Paper: The title track.  I was ready to give the song a 5 but I decided to listen to the song yesterday (yes I listened to it yesterday) and thought the verses were great but I'm not a fan of the chorus.  8/10

12) 'Til I Get Over You: This was the third and final single from the album.  That surprised me because I had no idea this song was a single since I never heard it on radio.  Then I found out it didn't have a video, which is another reason I didn't know it was a single.  Despite her vocals being great and even singing in french in part of the chorus, it wasn't a good choice for a single.  "Love Me like That" should've been a single instead.  8/10

13) It's You: Good way to end the album.  Her vocals are great but this song is boring.  5/10

Since "Everything Comes and Goes" is seen as an ep, "Hotel Paper" is Michelle's latest album release in 11 years.  Yipes!  My favorite song on the album are: "Breathe", "Tuesday Morning", "Desperately", "Are You Happy Now?", "Love Me like That (featuring Sheryl Crow)", "Where Are You Now?", "Find Your Way Back", and "Empty Handed".  Out of 120 points I give the album 109 points which is 90%, an A.  Michelle's an amazing artist and hopefully her new album will be released soon.

Lindsay Lohan: A Little More Personal (Raw) Album Review

A few weeks ago I reviewed Lindsay Lohan's first album, "Speak".  Today I'll be reviewing her second (and to date last album), "A Little More Personal (Raw)", which was initially supposed to be tiled "There's Only One Angel In Heaven" (I'm not sure why that the original title).  The album is a lot more darker and personal than "Speak".  Here's my track by track review.

1) Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father): The first single from the album.  Not only was it the only one to have a video but the video was directed by Lindsay herself.  The song is about her father.  It ended up being her highest charting song in the U.S., but that being said it was a bad choice as a first single.  6/10

2) Black Hole: This song was at, one point, supposed to be the third single but for whatever reasons it was cancelled.  It's hard to hear in her voice in the chorus, but other than that the song is still good.  Kelly Clarkson was supposed to cover it for her "My December" album but decided against it, which is sad cause I'd love to hear her do a version of it, pop/rock band I Nine did cover the song though for their album "Heavy Weighs the King" with slightly different lyrics and a lighter sound.  10/10

3) I Live for the Day: The second single from the album.  It was supposed to have a video but the video was cancelled due to her busy schedule at the time, however the treatment for the video did leak on the internet and the concept for the video seemed cool.  My favorite song on the album.  10/10

4) I Want You to Want Me: A cover song that was originally performed by the band Cheap Trick and is the most positive song on this album.  While is version is okay it doesn't really fit the mood and theme of this record.  7/10

5) My Innocence: Another song about her father.  The song is very dark and was also a b-side to "Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)".  Like that song, I don't listen to this song much at all.  7/10

6) A Little More Personal: The title track.  Unlike most of the album that leans on a dark pop/rock sound, this song is a little more pop.  That being said it's still a good song, I love it, and it should've a single since it's perfect for radio.  10/10

7) If It's Alright: Another song that was rumored to be the third single from the album.  It was also supposed to be the first single from the film "Flushed Away" (why it'd be in that film, I still don't know) but that was scrapped all together.  I hated the song, then I liked, and now I'm in between liking it and hating it.  7/10

8) If You Were Me: "If you were me, would you push you, would you turn the other cheek and forgive you?  Would you cry out, would you break down, or would you for karma to come around?"  That's part of the chorus and I really like it.  My only negative is that the song is too short.  10/10

9) Fastlane: Another song that was rumored to be released as the third single, (how many do we have so far?)  It was supposed to be released to promote her film "Just My Luck" but just like "Black Hole" and "If It's Alright" it was also cancelled.  8/10

10) Edge of Seventeen: A cover that was originally performed by, and written by, Stevie Nicks.  I heard Lindsay's version first and thought it was really good and even after hearing Stevie's original version, I still like Lindsay's version.  10/10

11) Who Loves You: Lindsay wanted this song to be the second single.  When I heard that I was like "Why that song?", it would be a bad choice.  This was because I hated the song so much but the more I listened to it, the more I liked.  But that being said I'm glad it wasn't released as a single.  9/10

12) A Beautiful Life (La Bella Vita): This song is a ballad and it's a perfect way to end the album.  I loved the song at first but I listened to it too much and it got a little boring.  8/10

After "A Little More Personal (Raw)" Lindsay focused on movies and was supposed to release her third album titled "Spirit in the Dark" in 2008 but it seems like it's shelved although seven of it's song have leaked.  Anyway my favorite songs are: "I Live for the Day", "Black Hole", "If You Were Me", "A Little More Personal", and "Who Loves You".  Out of 120 points I give the album 102 points which 85% which is a B.  Lindsay is said to be working on a new third album, but it's just a rumor.  Hopefully it's true so we get new music from her!

Mandy Moore: The Best of Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore was one of the first artists I started listening to as a kid.  I did a review of her self-titled album, "Mandy Moore" a few weeks ago and today I'll be reviewing her first greatest hits album, "The Best of Mandy Moore".  Here's my track by track review.

1) Candy: The first single from her first album, "So Real".  I remember loving this song so much as a kid, but these days I don't like it as much.  And funny enough Mandy Moore has said that the songs on "So Real" are "so bad" but she performs this song occasionally.  7/10

2) Walk Me Home: The second single from "So Real".  I ignored this song as a kid and still do to this day.  5/10

3) So Real: The third single and title track from "So Real".  I had no idea this song was released as a single or had a video until I saw it on iTunes.  I was shocked.  Liked it at first but now it's just annoying.  5/10

4) I Wanna Be with You: The title track as well as the first and only single from "I Wanna Be with You".  The song is her highest charting song in the U.S.  The song was also used in the film "Center Stage".  Her voice was much better on this song than on the previous three.  10/10

5) In My Pocket: First single from "Mandy Moore".  I already reviewed this song on my review for her "Mandy Moore" album.  10/10

6) Crush: Second single from "Mandy Moore".  Already reviewed this one too.  10/10

7) Cry: Third Single from "Mandy Moore" and first single from the "A Walk to Remember" soundtrack.  Reviewed this too.  10/10

8) Only Hope: A cover song, it was originally sung by the band Switchfoot.  It was supposed to be the single from the "A Walk to Remember" soundtrack but it's release was cancelled because "Cry" wasn't a hit like people hoped it would be.  8/10

9) Have a Little Faith in Me: The first single from her fourth album "Coverage", which an album full of cover songs.  This song was originally sung by John Hiatt.  I loved listening to this song and I love the video for it.  8/10

10) Can We Still Be Friends: Album track from "Coverage".  It was originally sung by Todd Rundgren.  Although it has great lyrics and Mandy's vocals are amazing, I don't really like the song much.  Her version of "Drop the Pilot", the second single from "Coverage", should've been on here instead.  7/10

11) Senses Working Overtime: The third single from "Coverage".  It was originally sung by the ban XTC.  I hated this song so much at first but it grew on me and I love it now.  The only video for the song is where she's performing it at Sessions@AOL.  10/10

12) I Feel the Earth Move: An album track from "Coverage".  It was originally sung by Carole King.  I'm not sure why this one was put on the album.  I would've preferred either "Moonshadow" or "The Whole of the Moon" both of "Coverage" instead of this song.  7/10

13) Top of the World: A song from the "Stuart Little 2" soundtrack.  Although it wasn't released as a single, even though wikipedia listed as a new single) I'm glad it's on here because it's my favorite song on the album.  In fact whenever "Stuart Little 2" is on, I always get excited when this song plays.  10/10

14) Secret Love: A song from the "Mona Lisa Smile" soundtrack.  It is also a cover, the song was originally performed by Doris Day.  I feel this is the weakest song on the album and it should've been replaced with either "Saturate Me" from "Mandy Moore" or her version of "Someday We'll Know" (featuring Jon Foreman) from "A Walk to Remember".  4/10

"The Best of Mandy Moore" is an amazing album.  It features her hit singles and other songs from 1999-2003.  My favorite songs are: "Top of the World", "Crush", "In My Pocket", "Cry", "I Wanna Be with You", "Senses Working Overtime", and "Have a Little Faith in Me".  Out of 140 points I give the album 131 which is 93%, an A.  Awesome job Mandy!

Evanescence: The Open Door Album Review

Three years after Evanescence's first album, "Fallen" was released, the band released their second album, "The Open Door".  This was their first album without one of their founding members, Ben Moody.  Here' my track by track review of "The Open Door".

1) Sweet Sacrifice: The third single from the album.  Originally it wasn't going to be a single because the band's label wanted them to release "All That I'm Living For" but after fans and even the band themselves requested, the label changed it to "Sweet Sacrifice".  It's my favorite song on the album.  Amy Lee has said that she wrote the song about the same abusive relationship that inspired most of the songs on "Fallen".  10/10

2) Call Me When You're Sober: The first single from the album.  The song is about Amy's ex-boyfriend Shaun Morgan from the rock band Seether.  The video used references from the fairy tale, "Little Red Ridding Hood".  10/10

3) Weight of the World: The fifth overall single from the album.  Like "Imaginary" from their album, "Fallen", this song was released as a promo single.  Great song!  10/10

4) Lithium: The second single from the album.  Amy has said that she wrote the chorus when she was 16.  Like "Call Me When You're Sober" her ex-boyfriend Shaun Morgan inspired this song as well.  The video had a winter theme.  10/10

5) Cloud Nine: Ironic title for a song so dark.  The beginning part used to scare me.  The song is about breaking up and Amy has said that it was the hardest song to sing on the album.  8/10

6) Snow White Queen: This is sung from the perspective of a stalker.  The title for the song comes from Evboard (the Snow White part) and the queen part because that's how the stalker idolized the one they were stalking.  i really like this song.  10/10

7) Lacrymosa: This song was originally written for the movie "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" but for whatever reasons it wasn't included.  It was inspired by Mozart.  8/10

8) Like You: Like "Hello" from "Fallen", "Like You" is about Amy's sister who passed away.  Amy has said it is the most intimate song on the record.  8/10

9) Lose Control: "Mary had a little lamb, his eyes black as coals.  If we play very quiet little lamb, Mary never has to know."  Very strange.  Is it weird that whenever I hear the song I think, what doesn't Mary have to know?  8/10

10) The Only One: Apparently this song was originally called "Tuna Afternoon".  How weird.  I find the song to be kinda weak.  6/10

11) Your Star: It was the hardest song that the band had ever written.  Vocally amazing but like the last song, not memorable.  5/10

12) All That I'm Living For: This song was supposed to be the third single but it was scrapped in favor of "Sweet Sacrifice".  I hated the song at first but over the years it's become a favorite of mine.  I love the second verse and the "lock the last open door, my ghosts are gaining on me" part.  10/10

13) Good Enough: The fourth single.  Unlike most of the band's songs, this is a happy song and it feels like a song Sarah McLachlan would've sang.  9/10

The album also had three outtakes called "The Last song I'm Wasting on You" (which was a b-side for "Lithium"), "Together Again" (it was released on iTunes in 2010) and "If You Don't Mind" (it was performed live in 2012 before a studio version of the song leaked a year later on youtube).  My favorite songs on the album are: "Sweet Sacrifice", "All That I'm Living For", "Weight of the World", "Snow White Queen", "Lithium", and "Call Me When You're Sober".  Out of 130 points I give the album 112 which 86%, a B.  Don't be surprised if I review their live album "Anywhere But Home" or their third album "Evanescence" one day!

Play: Replay Album Review

Play were all girl group in the early 2000's that consisted of Anaïs Lameche, Anna Sundstrand, Rosanna (Rosie) Munter and Fanny (Faye) Hamlin.  Together they released two albums, "Us Against the World", in the U.S. it was just self-titled "Play", in 2002 and "Replay" in 2003.  Unfortunately Faye left the group and was replaced by Janet Leon.  The group then released "Don't Stop the Music" and "Play Around the Christmas Tree" in 2004 before taking breaking up releasing a greatest hits album called "Girl's Mind" in 2005.  In 2009 Play was reformed as a three-piece consisting on original members Anaïs and Faye and new member Sanne Karlsson.  Anna didn't participate in the reunion because she was living in the U.S. and Rosie dropped out of the reunion at the last minute.  The newly formed Play released "Under My Skin" in 2010 only for Faye to leave the band again at the end of the year.  She was replaced this time by Emelie Norenberg and the group were supposed to release an Ep for the comeback to the U.S. but the band broke up once again.  Today I'll be reviewing Play's second album "Replay" which was their highest peaking album in the U.S. and had more of an R&B sound than their previous album.  Here's my track by track review.

1) I Must Not chase the Boys: The album's first single.  The verses are shared by both Anaïs and Faye.  The song is a coming of age song wanting and one of their most known songs.  It's video featured the girls in a mansion performing.  10/10

2) Honey to the Bee: This song is a cover.  It was originally sung by Billie Piper, most known for playing Rose Tyler on "Doctor Who".  Unlike the original version which is pop, Play's version has a trip hop beat and the vocals are slightly stronger than Billie's.  10/10

3) Just a Little: This song is also a cover.  The song was originally performed by Liberty X.  The lyrics are slightly different on Play's version although like the original version it keeps an R&B feeling to it.  Faye also sings on this song.  10/10

4) Whole Again: The second and final single from the album.  Not only does Faye sing lead on this song with Anaïs singing the last verse, but this song is also a cover.  It was originally performed by Atomic Kitten, who's version is a little better than this song.  The song was also covered by girl group No Secrets and released as a single the same year as Play released their version.  And yet it wasn't really talked about at the time.  Strange.  10/10

5) Hot: After three covers we get an original song.  Unfortunately "Hot" feels like a watered-down, weaker version of "Just a Little".  Even a rap from Shaggy can't make help this song.  6/10

6) Girl's Mind: One of the more pop/rock sounding songs, "Girl's Mind" talks about how a boy can try and try but he'll never understand what goes through a girl's mind.  It's a really good song and I think it should've been the third single.  10/10

7) What Is Love?: "What is love but a kiss on a rainy day, a smile that won't go away, a safe place to run".  This is an amazing ballad.  It's talks about what love is.  In 2004 Raven-Symoné for her album, "This Is My Time".  10/10

8) 11 out of 10: One of my favorite songs on the album.  Anaïs and Faye take turns singing the verses on this one as well.  The group No Angels covered the song for their album "Pure" and we're going to release it as single but in the end didn't.  10/10

9) Let's Get to the Love Part: I initially ignored this song for a long time.  Then I decided to listen to it and loved it.  The verses and the chorus are amazing.  The song does sound a little too mature for the group but they make it work.  10/10

10) 2 Blocks Down: This is my favorite song on the album.  Strange because like "Let's Get to the Love Part" I ignored "2 Blocks Down".  Great song and it should've been released as a single!  10/10

11) Ain't No Mountain High Enough: Another cover song.  This time it's the classic "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" originally sung by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.  The beat is pretty catchy and although I like it but the song isn't as great as the original.  8/10

12) Unspeakable: This song was released as a Target Exclusive bonus track.  Like some of the songs on the album, Faye mainly sings the song by herself.  It's still a very good song though.  10/10

Although Play has broken up, they still made amazing music.  I love all the songs on this album.  Out of 120 points I give the album 114 points which is 95%, an A.  No surprise since this is my favorite album from them.

Ana Johnsson: Little Angel Album Review

I did say yesterday that I'd review Ana Johnsson's second album "Little Angel", sometime this month.  What I didn't expect was that I'd be reviewing it the day after I reviewed "The  Way I Am".  Either way here's my track by track review

1) Little Angel: The title track.  It's a very haunting piano ballad.  The lyrics tell a sad story about a little angel who's wings and heart are broken.  It's only downside is that is short.  10/10

2) Break Through Time: The album's fourth and final single.  The song is about looking back on the past and wishing you could change all the bad things that have happened.  I can relate to this one a little too well.  10/10

3) Exception: The album's second single.  To some it's seen as the first single since it had a video.  The video features Ana as a spy as well as scenes from the film "Exit".  I love the lyric "if i could be your angel flying through a desert storm, a soothing calm oasis, you will always be my one" as well as "a backstabbing illusion, no smoke without a fire".  10/10

4) Catch Me If You Can: The third single from the album.  The song was the official theme song for the "2007 Alpine World Ski Championships".  Skiing was also shown throughout the video while Ana performed with her band as herself and as an alter-ego with a pink wig.  10/10

5) What If: A ballad asking the question what if.  What if I did this different, what if I could be this, what if I could change this?  We all have days like this.  I can relate to this one.  10/10

6) Playing God: For some reason I used to ignore this song.  Then one day I decided to listen to it and i was shocked.  Not only is it a song I can relate to, but it's also my favorite song on the whole album.  It talks about a how a person is so consumed by having control they feel like they're the leader or the boss because a little power gives them a big ego.  I wish it was a single.  10/10

7) Burn: "Let's see how fast you, let's watch you twist and turn".  That's opening line and when I first heard it I loved it because at the time there a person that I hated so much and this song helped me through the bad days.  It's also an amazing acoustic song.  10/10

8) Days of Summer: The first single from the album.  It's about remembering the good times of summer when you were younger.  The song was also featured on the "Jade Warrior soundtrack" in 2006.  I love it!  10/10

9) The Harder We Fall: I ignored this song as well and I don't know why.  I love this song and I think it would've been perfect for an action movie.  10/10

10) Still: An amazing ballad but after the last nine songs it kinda fails to be memorable.  7/10

11) Spit It Out: I used to listen to this song a lot because I could relate to this song, but these days not as much.  I love the line "with friends like you, I need no enemies".  It also feels like a song Avril Lavigne wrote.  8/10

12) Coming Out Strong: An amazing pop/rock empowerment song.  I wish it was a single because it's a song everyone can relate to when they're at the lowest point and I know I can relate to it.  It is just an amazing song.  One of the best!  10/10

13) Falling To Pieces: This is a bonus track on the Japanese CD/DVD release.  It was also a b-side on the "Days of Summer" single.  I don't really listen to the song much, but it's still pretty good.  9/10

14) If I'm Not Dreaming: This is also on the Japanese CD/DVD release.  It was rumored at one point to be a b-side from the "Break Through Time" single but for unknown reasons that plan was scrapped.  It's a very dark and I was scared to listen to it at first but now I love it.  10/10

Hopefully Ana will release some new stuff soon because "Little Angel" is so far the last album she's done and it was released almost 8 years ago.  I love all the songs on this album.  Out of 140 points I give it 134 which is 95% an A.  Not surprising since she's a great singer and songwriter!

Ana Johnsson: The Way I Am (Japanese Special Edition) Album Review

Ana Johnsson is a pop/rock singer from Sweden.  Some have labeled her "The Avril Lavigne of Sweden" because of their similar music styles.  Before Ana became a solo artist, she was on the Swedish version of "Popstars" where she made to the finals and became a part of a pop band, "Excellence".  The band scored five top ten hits in Sweden with their first single "Need to Know (Eenie Meenie Miny Moe)" being a number 1 hit.  However she later left the band and became a solo artist.  She released her first album, "Cuz I Can" in Sweden and it was later released worldwide as "The Way I Am" with a different cover and track listing.  I'll be reviewing the Japanese Special Edition of "The Way I Am", which has more tracks than the original.  Here's my track by track review.

1) We Are: The first single from the album, fourth overall.  The song was used for the movie "Spider-Man 2".  It's her biggest hit single to date.  I always get the lyric in the third verse wrong which is "breaking the will and raping the soul", I keep thinking that it's "breaking the will and breaking the soul."  Still an amazing song.  10/10

2) Don't Cry for Pain: The second single from the album, fifth overall.  The song is a rock ballad that talk about a woman who lives with her abusive husband and then gets the strength to leave him.  Interesting subject to talk about but it's good to hear a song about how enough is enough.  10/10

3) The Way I Am: Her first official single from "Cuz I Can" that was added on the album.  The song is about who Ana is and how she's proud to be herself.  I love this song and I think it was a perfect first single.  10/10

4) I'm Stupid: When I first heard the song, I had no idea that she covered it.  The song was originally recorded and released as a single by the band "Prime STH".  The differences between both versions is that Prime STH's has a pop/rock sound to it while Ana's version leans a little more towards a grunge sound.  There have been rumors that this was a single.  10/10

5) Life: Her second single from "Cuz I Can".  The song was originally supposed to be on the "Spider-Man 2" soundtrack but Ana was given the song "We Are" so "Life" wasn't put on the soundtrack.  It became a hit in Sweden and is a very uplifting song.  10/10

6) 6 Feet Under: This was the first song I ever heard from Ana.  I went on youtube and this song was recommended for me since I had had been listening to Marion Raven's song, also titled "Six Feet Under" a few days prior.  I figured why not listen to the song?  I did and I'm so glad I did.  It made me become a fan of hers and it's my favorite song on the album.  10/10

7) Coz I Can: The third and final single the album as well as the sixth overall single.  The original version of the song, "Cuz I Can", was the third single from "Cuz I Can".  The song talks about how you can be sweet, kind, and everything someone wants you to be but you won't and will but the complete opposite just because you can.  I love listening to this song!  10/10

8) Crest of the Wave: Boring song.  4/10

9) L.A.: "All the roads lead to L.A.".  That's the opening lyric to the song.  The lyrics are good but the isn't very memorable.  6/10

10) Now It's Gone: A beautiful ballad.  A song talking about ending a relationship because you're giving your all in the relationship and aren't getting much in return.  10/10

11) Here I Go Again: this song is my guilty pleasure.  Even though the verses are so so, the guitar line in the beginning and the chorus are fun to listen to.  Plus the lyrics are pretty fun.  9/10

12) Black Hole: Like "I'm Stupid", "Black Hole" was rumored to be a single as well.  The differences are that "Black Hole" is a digital single on iTunes.  The song is okay but for some reason I don't like it much and I don't know why.  8/10

13) Tame Me: Now we begin with the bonus tracks.  It feels like a lighter, poppier version of Miley Cyrus' song "Can't Be Tamed" despite being released six years before that song.  The song is pretty funny in a good way.  8/10

14) Bring It On: I love this song.  It's only downside is that it's too short.  It was also released as a b-side for "We Are".  10/10

15) What Is a Girl to Do: The song has a haunting sound to it and at first I ignored it but then I listened to the whole song and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.  The verses start slow until the chorus comes in being little more up-tempo.  10/10

16) Anything Goes: An acoustic song!  I love acoustic music but this song isn't as exciting as the other songs on the album are.  The lyrics are very relatable though.  8/10

17) Just A Girl: The final track on the album.  I love the honesty of this song and how she feels like there's something wrong with her when she's not interested in the stuff the girls are into, when nothing's wrong with her at all.  If only there were more songs like this.  10/10

Since the release of this album, Ana released another album "Little Angel" (which I'll review sometime this month) and was supposed to record an album in 2012 but nothing been heard from her since.  My favorite songs on the album are: "6 Feet Under", "Coz I Can", "The Way I Am", "We Are", "Don't Cry for Pain", "Just A Girl", "Now It's Gone", "What Is a Girl to Do", "Life", "Bring It On", "Here I Go Again", and "I'm Stupid". Out of 170 points I give the album 153 which is 90%, an A.  Awesome job Ana!

Hilary Duff: Most Wanted (The Collector's Signature Edition) Album Review

Once again, I will be reviewing a Hilary Duff album.  This time it will be her first greatest hits album, "Most Wanted (The Collector's Edition)".  The album came as a surprise to many because Hilary had only released two albums and a couple singles.  The album included some of her singles, some songs from her first two albums, four new songs, and a few songs that were remixed.  Here is my track by track review.

1) Wake Up: The first single from the greatest hits album.  It's boring.  It feels like Hilary didn't put much effort into singing this song.  5/10

2) The Getaway: I already reviewed this song on the "Hilary Duff" album review.  10/10

3) Beat of My Heart: The second single from the album.  It's worse than "Wake Up".  Bad choice to even put it on an album.  3/10

4) Come Clean (Remix 2005): "Come Clean" was the second single (or third single if you count "Why Not") from Hilary's first album, "Metamorphosis".  The song is given a techno dance remix which is good to dance to but it would've been good to hear the original version instead.  8/10

5) Who's That Girl (Acoustic Version): The original version of the song was on "Hilary Duff".  It sounds virtually the same as the original version.  I like that she did an acoustic version of a song on this album, even if it was this one.  8/10

6) Mr. James Dean: Reviewed it already on "Hilary Duff".  8/10

7) So Yesterday: The first single (or second if you count "Why Not") from her first album "Metamorphosis".  Unlike "Come Clean", the wasn't remixed and I'm glad because it's a good song that doesn't need to be remixed.  10/10

8) Metamorphosis: The title track of her first album "Metamorphosis".  I didn't hear the song until I bought this album.  Hilary had co-written the song and it's really good.  Even though it wasn't a single I'm glad it's on here because it's a song people can relate to.  10/10

9) Rock This World (Remix 2005): Another song that has been remixed.  Thankfully it sounds better than the original version that was on "Hilary Duff".  It has more of a rock sound than the original version.  10/10

10) Break My Heart: The third new song on the album.  Unlike "Wake Up" and "Beat of Me Heart", which were pop, "Break My Heart" has more of a rock feel to it.  It feels like something Avril Lavigne or Ashlee Simpson would've sang.  I love it!  10/10

11) Jericho (Remix 2005): WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!  Why did they remix this song?  Not only is the beat distracting but it takes away the emotion that was in her vocals on the original version.  Bad choice of remixing an amazing song.  The original version was on "Hilary Duff".  4/10

12) Fly: Already reviewed this song on "Hilary Duff".  9/10

13) Supergirl: If you bought the collector's signature edition of the album, not only did you get "Who's That Girl" (Acoustic Version) and "Jericho (Remix 2005)", but you'll get this song.  It is the fourth new song and was supposed to be released as the third overall single from the album.  Sadly Hilary's schedule wouldn't allow her to release a third single and this song ended up being released as a download only single.  Shame, since it was better than "Wake Up" and "Beat of My Heart".  10/10

14) Party Up (Remix 2005): What up with these remixes?  Anyway the original version was on her first album, "Metamorphosis".  On this version the song sounds so strange.  Also are Timbaland's vocals being played in the background?  "Little Voice", her third single (fourth if you count "Why Not") from "Metamorphosis" should've been on here instead of this song.  6/10

15) Girl Can Rock: Believe it or not the song has actually been remixed, giving it more of a rock sound.  Surprising it's not noted as being remixed on the album.  Strange.  The original version of the song is on the "A Cinderella Story" soundtrack.  10/10

16) Our Lips Are Sealed: This song is cover, it was originally performed by The Go-Go's.  The song was released as the only single from "A Cinderella Story", which was a movie Hilary started in.  The song also features her sister Haylie Duff.  8/10

17) Why Not (Remix 2005): Another remix?  Seriously?!  Thankfully this song is a good one.  In fact it's so good it's kind of hard to tell the differences between this one and the original.  The original version was released as a single from "The Lizzie McGuire Movie", which Hilary stared in, as the first single (and also the first single from "Metamorphosis" if you count it.  Just thought I'd throw it in there.  Haha!)  10/10

In the end "Most Wanted (The Collector's Edition)" is good to have if you're a Hilary Duff fan, but was still a questionable release.  My favorite songs on the album are: "Break My Heart", "Rock This World (Remix 2005)", "The Getaway", "Supergirl", "Why Not (Remix 2005), "Metamorphosis", "So Yesterday", and "Girl Can Rock".  Out of 170 points I give it 129 points which is 75%, a C.  Still pretty good!

LeAnn Rimes: Twisted Angel Album Review

In the late 90's and early 2000's, LeAnn Rimes was known for being a country/pop singer with hits like, "Blue", "How Do I Live", "Big Deal", "I Need You" and "Can't Fight the Moonlight".  These days she's most known for an affair that she had in 2009.  But instead of going into that, I'm just going to review her fifth album, "Twisted Angel", which was more of a pop album then her previous, and current, albums which were country (with the exception of "Whatever We Wanna".)  So here's my track by track review of the album.

1) Life Goes On: The first single from the album.  I heard this song for the first time in 2009, when I was very depressed.  When I heard the song it made me smile and cry in a good.  It's my favorite song on the whole album.  10/10

2) Wound Up: In this song LeAnn tells a story about a girl named Carrie Ann who has succumbed to the dark side of Hollywood, while continuing to become a bigger star.  I think it's a great song and I like the message behind it.  10/10

3) The Safest Place: I like the lyrics to the song and how it talks about "the safest place" is being right there in your partner's arms.  That being said it's not a memorable song.  6/10

4) Trouble With Goodbye: I find it funny that the song talks about having a hard time saying goodbye when the chorus has her singing the word in different languages, "Sayonara, adios, Arrivederci, au revoir, auf wirdersehen, cioa bella".  I loved dancing around to this song.  9/10

5) Damn: This song is a ballad that is beautiful.  It really highlights her voice and vocal range.  I'm still surprised how she can hold that note at the end so long.  Christina Aguilera may have some competition.  10/10

6) Suddenly: This song was released as the second overall single as well as the final single from the album.  It charted better than "Life Goes On" did and in a way I think this would've been a better choice as the first single and "Life Goes On" being second instead.  10/10

7) Tic Toc: This song was released as a promo single from the album.  It only charted on the U.S. dance charts.  It's definitely a different song for her lyrically.  9/10

8) Sign of Life: I used to like song a lot the first time I heard it.  But as time went on it got a little boring.  The intro to the song is awesome but the rest of it is kind of a downer.  6/10

9) Review My Kisses: This song was supposed to be recorded by an international recording artist named Lara Fabian but she refused to record it.  So LeAnn got the song.  Like "Damn", "Review My Kisses" show off her voice perfectly.  Funny enough after Lara Fabian heard LeAnn's version of the song decided to cover it.  Funny how that works isn't it?  10/10

10) No Way Out: This song is cool.  It's verses start slow and then the chorus comes out having a rock sound to it.  I love the part where she sings, "It's like a dream you can't wake up from, It's a hunger I can't be satisfied".  Wonder why it wasn't a single.  10/10

11) Love Is an Army: It's not that bad, but I hardly listen to the song that much.  7/10

12) You Made Me Find Myself: This song is a cover.  It was originally sung by Tina Arena for her album, "Just Me".  I haven't heard the original version but I don't like this song that much.  6/10

13) Twisted Angel: The title track.  I always get excited for the title tracks on albums because they're usually one of my favorite.  It's not the case with this song.  To me it's a mediocre track that should've been off the album.  5/10

"Twisted Angel" was unfortunately panned by critics but it's still my favorite album from LeAnn Rimes.  My favorite songs on the album are: "Life Goes On", "No Way Out", "Suddenly", "Damn", "Wound Up", and "Review My Kisses".  Out of 130 points I give the album 108 which is 83%, a B.  Good job LeAnn!

Mandy Moore: Mandy Moore Album Review

Before being known as the well known actress she is today, Mandy Moore was a pop singer.  She came out around the same time as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson.  Her first album, "So Real" didn't become the hit album that the label had hoped for so they re-tooled the album as "I Wanna Be With You".  Her next two albums, the self-titled "Mandy Moore" and "Coverage" were much different from her previous records.  "Mandy Moore" was more R&B and pop while "Coverage" had an adult-alternative/folk-rock sound.  After "Coverage", she released two greatest hits albums, "The Best of Mandy Moore" and "Candy" before parting with her label at the time, Epic Records.  Today I'll be reviewing her third album, the self-titled, "Mandy Moore", so here's my track by track review.

1) In My Pocket: The first single from the album.  The song was musically different and mature from her previous singles.  Although it wasn't a hit in the U.S., it did chart very well in Australia.  The video for the song was pretty cool.  10/10

2) You Remind Me: Another great song.  I love the chorus, "You remind me of a love I knew, feels so weird it must be deja vu."  10/10

3) Saturate Me: This song was released as a double a-side single in Asia, along with the song, "17".  I think this song should've been released as the fourth single in the U.S. and everywhere else because it probably would've charted better than the other singles did.  The third verse is my favorite.  10/10

4) One Sided Love: The guitar part in the intro gets stuck in my head a lot.  The song talks about how you're sick of giving your all in the relationship when the other person isn't giving their all.  This should've been a single!  It's my one of favorites as well.  10/10

5) 17: Compared to the previous four songs, this one feels a little weak.  It was released as a double a-side single in Asia along with the song, "Saturate Me".  I get "Saturate Me" being a single, but "17" not so much.  Although it's a relatable song to anyone who's 17, and it was for me at that age, it kind of gets boring after a couple listens.  7/10

6) Cry: If you're a hardcore fan of Mandy Moore than you know this song.  It was released as the third and final singe from the album.  It was also in the movie "A Walk to Remember", which Mandy Moore started in.  Although it didn't become a huge hit in the U.S., it's a fan favorite as well as Mandy's favorite song on the album.  The video was the first to show Mandy as a brunette, her previous videos showed her as a blonde, and the video in a way acts as a conclusion to the movie.  Awesome song.  10/10

7) Crush: The second single from the album.  This is my favorite song on the whole album.  The video for the song also became Mandy's first number 1 video on Total Request Live.  The video used a slightly different version of song and showed Mandy performing with her band, wearing a red jacket similar to the one in Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video, as well as her smiling at her crush at the end of the video.  10/10

8) It Only Took a Minute: Despite it's great production, the song itself is weak.  I go back and forth from liking it to hating it.  5/10

9) Turn the Clock Around: I love this song.  It's around liking someone but you know nothing can happen between the two of you because the person you like is leaving town the next day and on top of that you haven't told them how you feel so you wish that you could turn the clock around to have more time with that person.  Who can relate to this one?  I'm pretty sure a lot of people.  The sad part is the last verse where you're about to tell the person but they're already gone.  It makes me sad but I still love the song.  10/10

10) Yo-Yo: Ever have someone who keeps bringing you down and then all of a sudden they want you back and keep do the same thing they did before?  This song is about that!  I can relate to this song too well.  I love the part where she sings "I'm not a yo-yo, I don't come back when I'm thrown." meaning she's done repeating the same thing with the person because that person won't change.  10/10

11) From Loving You: Talks about the first time you felt what love is.  Despite being written by Diane Warren and that Mandy's vocals are great, the song's not good but it's not bad either.  It's just in between.  6/10

12) Split Chick: The song is pretty catchy and is a guilty pleasure of mine.  It also seems like Mandy's having fun singing the song.  But it's still not as good as some of the other songs on this album.  8/10

13) When I Talk to You: The only song on the album that Mandy co-wrote.  It starts out on acoustic guitar and later a violin is added onto this ballad.  Although it highlights her amazing voice, I don't listen to it much.  8/10

After she parted ways with Epic Records, she released two new albums, "Wild Hope" and "Amanda Leigh."  I still love this album though.  My favorite songs on this album are "Crush", "One Sided Love", "Turn the Clock Around", "Yo-Yo", "Saturate Me", "You Remind Me", "Cry" and "In My Pocket".  Out of 130 points I give the album 114 points which is 87%, a B+.  Mandy Moore is working on her seventh album now and I can't wait to hear it!

Vanessa Carlton: Rabbits On the Run Album Review

A month ago, I reviewed Vanessa Carlton's "Icon: Best of Vanessa Carlton".  Today I'll be reviewing her fourth album, "Rabbits on the Run".  "Rabbits on the Run" was released four years after Vanessa's third album, "Heroes & Thieves" and was musically a little different.  Here's my track by track review.

1) Carousel: The first single from the album.  Out of all the songs on the album, this song feels like it could've been on "Heroes & Thieves".  The album's title comes from a lyric in the song, "Time won't wait so don't be late, white rabbits on the run".  I think it was a perfect choice to be  the first single.  10/10

2) I Don't Want to Be a Bride: Kind of an ironic title for a song now that she's married.  In this song Vanessa talks about not wanting to be a bride and would rather skip to the ever after part.  Personally I feel the same way, except that I'm a guy.  It was released as the second single but a video was not made or released.  10/10

3) London: When I got the album i ignored this song.  And almost three years later I still ignore it sometimes.  The song has my favorite lyric on the album, "and I've never been so sure, that after all these years I'll never learn."  7/10

4) Fairweather Friend: Out of all of the songs on this album, this one is the one I relate to the most.  Rumors are that the song is about her ex-boyfriend, Stephan Jenkins from the band Third Eye Blind, who co-wrote a lot of the songs on her "Harmonium" album.  10/10

5) Hear the Bells: When I first heard the song I thought it was an outtake from her "Harmonium" album since it sounded so dark.  It was released as the third and final single from the album.  Since Vanessa's label was unable to do a video for "I Don't Want to Be a Bride", "Hear the Bells" got a video instead.  This is also why "Hear the Bells" is seen as the second single from the album.  The video for the song didn't really match what the song was talking about though.  But I guess a weird video is better than no video.  10/10

6) Dear California: Before the album was released, this song was rumored to be the third single.  At that time I hated the song.  Nowadays I listen to it a lot and I love it.  It probably would've been a hit if it was released as a single.  10/10

7) Tall Tales for Spring: Before the album was titled "Rabbits on the Run", it was called "Tall Tales for Spring" which would've made this the title track.  The title was changed though in the end.  It's very different from the rest of the songs on the album, especially with it's hook being "madness, madness" which sums up what the track is.  7/10

8) Get Good: Unlike most of her songs, which are more piano driven, "Get Good" starts out on a guitar.  It's a great change and it's a good song to listen to if you're having a bad day or if you're depressed.  10/10

9) Marching Line: I used to love this song at first.  In fact when I got the album it was one of my five favorite songs on the album, but over the years it has gotten a little boring.  8/10

10 In the End: Like "The Last Song" on Hilary Duff's self-titled "Hilary Duff" album, "In the End serves more as an outro than a song.  It's a very dark and it's also hard to hear Vanessa's beautiful voice on this.  5/10

Despite it getting positive reviews from critics, the singles from "Rabbits on the Run" failed to chart, which is a shame because it's a great album.  My favorite songs on the album are "Fairweather Friend", "Hear the Bells", "Get Good", "Dear California", and "Carousel".  Out of 100 points I give the album 87 which is 87%, a B+.  Vanessa's working on her fifth album and hopefully it'll be released this year!

Avril Lavigne: Under My Skin Album Review

It's pretty obvious to say that I'm a huge fan of Avril Lavigne.  I've already reviewed her fourth album "Goodbye Lullaby" and her fifth self-titled album, "Avril Lavigne", so today I'll be reviewing my favorite Avril Lavigne album, "Under My Skin".  "Under My Skin" is Avril's second album and was much darker than her first album "Let Go".  Here's my track by track review.

1) Take Me Away: Avril wrote the lyrics to the song while her friend, and former lead guitarist, Evan Taubenfeld.  It was released as promo single in both Canada and Australia.  Every time I listen to the song it puts me in a good mood.  10/10

2) Together: Despite the title, it's not a happy song.  It talks about how when you're alone you feel good but when you're with your significant other you don't feel happy.  Avril had said that the song was her favorite song on the album and while on tour she performed the song while playing the piano.  This song is one of my favorites.  10/10

3) Don't Tell Me: The album's first single.  Like "Take Me Away", Avril wrote the lyrics and Evan wrote the music.  The song is about being strong and not letting a guy pressure you into doing anything.  10/10

4) He Wasn't: The fourth overall single from the album.  It wasn't released in the U.S. but it was released in the U.K., Canada, and Australia.  The video was very strange, especially with the shots of Avril dressed as a fairy as well as wearing devil horns.  But then again it's Avril Lavigne so it's kinda expected.  10/10

5) How Does It Feel: A very vulnerable song.  I think it's a song everyone can relate to at one point in their life.  This also the only song from the album that wasn't performed at her "Live in Budokan" tour, nor has it been performed at any of her other tours.  Strange.  10/10

6) My Happy Ending: The second single from the album.  It is my favorite song on the album.  It was also the best charting single on the album.  Despite it's title it's not a "happy" song.  Instead it talks about a relationship that's fallen apart.  10/10

7) Nobody's Home: The third single from the album.  Avril wrote the lyrics by herself while she wrote the music with former Evanescence lead guitarist Ben Moody.  It is a rock ballad and was a little slower paced than previous singles "Don't Tell Me" and "My Happy Ending" which were more fast paced.  10/10

8) Forgotten: One of, if not the darkest song on the album.  I used to ignore the song when I first got the album but as I got older I started to relate to it more.  10/10

9) Who Knows: A happy song!  The song talks about living life to fullest and just be happy.  I didn't like the song at first but I do now.  10/10

10) Fall to Pieces: While the U.K. got "He Wasn't" as the fourth single, "Fall to Pieces" was released as the fourth and final single here in the U.S. and was the fifth overall single off the album.  A video for the song was supposed to be shot but for some strange reason the video shoot was cancelled.  Instead it was just released as a radio single.  Shame that it didn't get a video, since it was a great song.  10/10

11) Freak Out: I love this song!  Avril wrote the lyrics by herself and the music was written by Evan Taubenfeld and Avril's former drummer Matt Bran.  I love the guitar part in the beginning and the part where she sings "Freak out, let it go".  Great motto to live by.  10/10

12) Slipped Away: This song makes me cry.  Avril wrote this song about her grandfather who passed away.  I can't listen to the song because it makes me think about my grandmother and I start crying.  Still a beautiful song.  10/10

13) I Always Get What I Want: This song was a bonus track on the U.K. version and Japanese version.  It was also a B-side to "Nobody's Home", was on "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement Soundtrack" and was released on iTunes as a promo single.  Avril has performed the song a few times.  The title pretty much tells you what the song is about.  10/10

Almost 10 years have passed since this album has been released and it's still one of Avril's best.  I love all the songs on this album and can relate to all of them.  Even "He Wasn't" which is kinda sad......  Anyone out of 130 points I give the album 130 points which is 100%, an A+.  Not surprised since this is one of my favorite albums of all time so far!

Taylor Swift: Speak Now Album Review

Back in July, i reviewed Taylor Swift's fourth album, "Red".  It's safe to say I didn't like the album that much.  Today I'll be reviewing her third album, "Speak Now", which I thought was a better album.  Here's my track by track review.

1) Mine: "Mine" was the first single from the album.  Taylor says that it's about her tendency to run from love.  Although the song and it's video are great, it reminds me a little bit of "Love Story" from her "Fearless" album.  10/10

2) Sparks Fly: Taylor performed the song live before a studio version of the song was released.  It's an amazing song.  Especially the chorus "Drop everything now, meet me in the pouring rain.  Kiss me on the sidewalk, take away the pain.  Cause I see Sparks Fly whenever you smile."  It was released as the fifth single from the album and it's one of my favorites.  10/10

3) Back to December: This was the second single from the album.  Unlike most of her songs, Taylor apologizes in this song.  The song is about Taylor Lautner.  At first listen it's blah, but after a few more it's amazing.  10/10

4) Speak Now: The title track, which was released as a promo single before the album's release.  In the song Taylor crashes the wedding of her ex and his bride-to-be.  She does this because the bride is wrong for him.  It's very good, and if anyone has been in that situation and stopped the wedding then I salute you, because I probably wouldn't have the courage to do that.  But then again my ex's wouldn't invite me to their weddings.  And if they did then they've clearly lost their minds!  10/10

5) Dear John: This is a song about John Mayer.  Shocking isn't it?  Who knew they dated?  It's the longest song on the album at almost 7 minutes.  It's a good ballad.  8/10

6) Mean: Before I heard this song I thought it would sound like "Picture to Burn".  Boy was I wrong!  It's very country.  It talks about how someone people can be nothing but mean to you.  I know the feeling.  (High school sucked!)  It was released as the third single from the album and got Taylor a Grammy.  Awesome!  10/10

7) The Story of Us: An upbeat song!  YAY!  She wrote this song after being at and award show a few seats away from an ex.  I wonder who the ex was.  Hmmmm...  The song was released as the fourth single from the album but it became Taylor's first single to miss the top 40 on the billboard charts.  Ouch!  10/10

8) Never Grow Up: A lullaby Taylor sings to a baby.  She's telling the baby to never grow up so they won't go through the challenges of growing up.  I like it and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who can relate to this song.  It made me cry when I first heard it.  10/10

9) Enchanted: It starts off slow, which makes it perfect to waltz to, but then it gets more upbeat.  I like it but it's not my favorite.  8/10

10) Better than Revenge: MY FAVORITE SONG ON THE ALBUM!  It talks about a girl who stole Taylor's boyfriend, but the girl should watch out because Taylor is great at revenge.  I wish that it was released as single.  10/10

11) Innocent:  This song is clearly about Kanye West.  We all know the song is about him and what he did at the VMA's last year.  Instead of singing about how hurtful it was Taylor takes a different direction it seems she's let go of the whole thing.  10/10

12) Haunted: Don't you just hate it when someone haunts you?  Taylor does.  In this song Taylor is haunted by an ex.  It's very dark and unexpected from Taylor.  My 2nd favorite song on the album.  10/10

13) Last Kiss: A sad song.  Talks about the end of a relationship.  The hidden message in the booklet for this song is FOREVER AND ALWAYS, which is a song on "Fearless" about Joe Jonas.  10/10

14) Long Live: This song might be heard at graduation ceremonies in the future.  I like it, awesome job Taylor!  10/10

15) Ours: This is on the Deluxe Edition that can be bought at Target.  The positive, it's very sweet.  The negative, the music sounds like Carrie Underwood's "Quitter" from "Play On".  It was released as the album's sixth and final single.  10/10

16) If this was a Movie: Why do I think of her song "A Perfectly Good Heart", from the deluxe edition of her self titled album, when I hear this song?  Either way, It's still good.  10/10

17)  Superman: Great song.  Nothing negative about it and it's a guilty pleasure of mine to listen to.  10/10

18) Back to December (Acoustic): I think it's better than the original version.  10/10

19) Haunted (Acoustic): It loses it's dark vibe but it's still good.  10/10

20) Mine (Pop Mix): It's pretty good but I prefer the original version of the song.  8/10

"Speak Now", in my opinion is my favorite album of hers.  I don't why it wasn't nominated for album of the year.  I love all the songs on this album.  Out of 200 points I give the album 194 points which is 97%, an A+.  Hopefully her fifth album will be like this!

Sugababes: Overloaded: The Singles Collection Album Review

A couple weeks ago I reviewed the Sugababes' "Sweet 7" album, today I'll be reviewing their greatest hits album, "Overloaded: The Singles Collection".  The album includes all their singles from 2000-2006 except "New Year", "Soul Sound", "Angels with Dirty Faces", and "Follow Me Home".  Here's my track by track review of the album.

1) Freak Like Me: The first single from their second album "Angels with Dirty Faces".  The lineup on this single were the 2nd, Keisha, Mutya, and Heidi.  It was the band's first U.K. number 1 and the first feature Heidi as a member of the band.  The video for the single showed the girls in a club scaring guys as they seemed to be vampires.  The video also acted as an introduction to Heidi joining the band.  10/10

2) Round Round: The second single from their second album "Angels with Dirty Faces".  Like the first single, "Freak Like Me", it was released by the second lineup and was a number 1 in the U.K.  The song is my favorite on their "Angels with Dirty Faces album and I'm happy that it's included on the album.  It also hit number 7 on the U.S. dance charts.  10/10

3) Red Dress: The third single from their fourth album "Taller in More Ways".  Initially recorded by the second lineup, it was re-recorded by the third line-up, Keisha, Heidi, and Amelle when Mutya left and was replaced by Amelle.  Although I think Mutya sings great, Amelle sings "Red Dress" better than Mutya.  Mutya has said that she hated the song and was glad they redid it.  The song peaked at number 4 in the U.K.  10/10

4) In the Middle: The third single from their third album "Three".  It was released by the second line-up and had a very risque video.  The video also featured a slightly different version of the song than the album did as it featured re-recorded vocals (you can hear it in Keisha's verse) and the chorus is only sang once after Keisha's verse, whereas on the album version it was sung twice.  That being said I love both versions and love the song.  It peaked at number 8 in the U.K.  10/10

5) Stronger: The third single from their second album "Angels with Dirty Faces".  It was released by the second line-up and was released as a double A-side with the song, "Angels with Dirty Faces" so the chart positions for those songs were basically the same.  The song peaked at number 7 in the U.K.  Despite it being an empowering song, I don't listen to it much.  8/10

6) Shape: The fourth and final single from their second album "Angels with Dirty Faces".  It was released by the second line-up and samples Sting's song "Shape of My Heart".  The song is amazing ballad and I liked the sample in the song.  The song peaked at number 11 in the U.K.  It's one of my favorites.  10/10

7) Overload: The first single from their first album "One Tough".  This single was released by the original first lineup Keisha, Mutya, and Siobhan.  It was their debut single and it peaked at number 6.  I ignored the song for awhile but after listening to it, I think it's pretty good.  8/10

8) Good to Be Gone: This is one of the new tracks on the album.  I think it's pretty boring and bland.  It was supposed to be the second single from the album but the release was cancelled after the Sugababes did a collaboration with Girls Aloud.  4/10

9) Caught in a Moment: The fourth and final single from the band's third album "Three".  It was released by the second line-up and although it's a good ballad, it feels like a watered down version of their single "Too Lost in You".  I also wonder why this was released as a single instead of "Conversation's Over".  That being said, you can't deny their great vocals.  The song peaked at number 8 in the U.K.  10/10

10) Ugly: The second single from their fourth album "Taller in More Ways".  It was released by the second line-up and was the last single to feature Mutya as she left the band before the third single was picked.  The song is an empowerment song that was written by Dallas Austin, who co-wrote TLC's "Unpretty", which was one of the songs that "Ugly" got compared to.  I love this song and I'm happy it was a single.  It peaked at number 3 in the U.K.  10/10

11) Easy: The first and only single released from this album.  Like "Good to Be Gone", the song is boring.  The only good thing about it is the chorus.  Other than that the song is dreadful.  It peaked at number 8 in the U.K.

12) Too Lost in You: The second single from the band's third album "Three".  It was released by the second line-up and was also on the soundtrack to the film "Love Actually".  There are two versions of the video.  One version of the video featured the girls walking through an airport and having fantasies about a guy.  The other version is basically the same with scenes from the movie in the video.  It's vocally one of their best songs.  It peaked at number 10 in the U.K.  10/10

13) Run for Cover: Some versions of the greatest hits album didn't include this track and some did.  The version that i got did include this song.  It was the third single from their first album "One Touch" and was released by the first line-up.  For some reason I don't listen to the song that much at all.  It peaked at number 13 in the U.K.  5/10

14) Hole in the Head: The first single from the band's third album "Three".  It was released by the second line-up and it was even released in the U.S. where it was a number 1 on the dance charts.  It became the group's third number 1 in the U.K.  I love song and I think it was a perfect choice to release it as a single.  10/10

15) Push the Button: The first single from the band's fourth album "Taller in More Ways".  It was released by the second  line-up and mainly written by Keisha as the inspiration for the song was about a guy she was crushing on.  The group has said the video for the song was funny to them as the guys they were with the video aren't their types of guys.  It became the band's fourth number 1 in the U.K. and was the band's best selling single until 2007 when they released "About You Now".  10/10

"Overloaded: The Singles Collection" is my favorite album by the band as it has the band's biggest hits from 2000-2006.  My favorite songs are: "Round Round", "Freak Like Me", "Shape", "Too Lost in You", "Hole in the Head", "In the Middle", "Red Dress", and "Ugly".  Out of 150 points I give the album 130 points which is 86%, a B+.  Better grade than I gave "Sweet 7"!

Cascada: Original Me Album Review

Cascada are most known for their hit single, "Everytime We Touch" which was the third single from their debut album, also titled, "Everytime We Touch".  Since then they've released three more albums, "Perfect Day", "Evacuate the Dancefloor", and "Original Me".  "Perfect Day" achieved moderate success as did "Evacuate the Dancefloor".  "Original Me" however, didn't do as well, not only in album sales but in single sales as well.  Today I'll be reviewing "Original Me", so here's my track by track review.

1) San Francisco: This song was the 2nd single released from the album.  I thought it was a bad idea to release this song because it sounds so much like Katy Perry's "California Girls".  7/10

2) Au Revoir: This was the third single from the album.  Out of all the singles they released from this album, this was my favorite.  Despite it sounding so similar to Britney Spears' "If U Seek Amy", I still like it.  10/10

3) Stalker: The song talks about wanting to be with a person all the time, day and night.  It should've been a single instead of "Pyromania".  10/10

4) Night Nurse: The fourth and final single from the album.  It was first released as a promo single before "San Francisco" was released.  It's very strange and I find the guy's auto-tuned vocals a little weird.  7/10

5) Pyromania: The first single from the album.  Despite it's catchy hook, it sounds like a song Lady Gaga recorded but decided not to release.  7/10

6) Unspoken (featuring Carlprit): This song features rapper Carlprit who was also on the band's single, "Evacuate the Dancefloor".  The song feels more like a Carlprit featuring Cascada since Natalie Horler, the lead vocalist of the group, only sings the chorus.  7/10

7) Original Me: The title track and one of the few songs on the album that sound "original".  Other than the parts when there's auto tune the song is great, especially the lyrics.  10/10

8) Sinner on the Dancefloor: Even the somewhat catchy chorus can't save this boring song.  Why was it even put on the album?  3/10

9) Enemy: This song is my favorite song on the whole album.  It's an amazing ballad that was supposed to be a single.  Why is wasn't a single, I'll never know.  I love the chorus the most and annoyed that "San Francisco" was released as a single instead of "Enemy".  10/10

10) Hungover: Another amazing ballad that showcases Natalie voice perfectly.  It feels like something OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder produced and co-wrote but surprisingly it wasn't.  Wow.  10/10

11) Independence Day (featuring Carlprit): Like "Unspoken", "Independence Day" also feels more like a Carlprit.  Although a good song it feels like a rip-off of Eminem and Rihanna's "Love the Way You Lie."  Other than that it's pretty good.  7/10

"Original Me" is a pretty good album.  I think the reason it didn't achieve the success it should've gotten is because the label picked the wrong songs to be released as single, with "Au Revoir" being an exception since it was good.  My favorite songs on the album are: "Enemy", "Hungover", "Au Revoir", "Stalker", and "Original Me".  Out of 110 points I give the album 88 points which ends up being 80%, a B.  Cascada are recording a new album that will hopefully be released later this year.  Can't Wait!

Evanescence: Fallen Album Review

Evanescence is one of my favorite bands of all times.  Their music helped me get through depression and high school.  So far Evanescence has released 3 studio album, "Fallen", "The Open Door", and the self-titled "Evanescence", 3 extended plays, "Evanescence Ep", "Sound Asleep (Whisper) Ep", and "Mystary", 1 Demo album, "Origin", and 1 live album, "Anywhere But Home".  Today I'll be reviewing their first album, "Fallen", so here's my track by track review.

1) Going Under: This was the album's second single.  It was originally planned to be the album's first single but because "Bring Me to Life" was on the "Daredevil Soundtrack" and radio listener's demanded that the song be played.  "Going Under" was the last song recorded for "Fallen" and it talks about coming out of a bad relationship.  The video showed the band performing the song while the audience would change into monsters.  It's my favorite song on the whole album.  10/10

2) Bring Me to Life (featuring Paul McCoy from 12 Stones:  The first single from the album.  Like I said earlier, the song was the was on the "Daredevil Soundtrack" and because people liked it and demanded to hear it on radio it was released as the first single.  To date it is the band's highest charting single.  It also won a Grammy for "Best Hard Rock Performance".  10/10

3) Everybody's Fool: The fourth single from the album.  Initially "Imaginary" was supposed to be the 4th single but for unknown reasons, "Everybody's Fool" was released instead.  This was the song that made me a fan of the band.  The video was the first one to not feature former lead guitarist and one of the founding members Ben Moody.  Love the message of the song.  10/10

4) My Immortal: This song was one of the band's earlier songs that was featured on their "Evanescence Ep", "Mystary Ep" and "Origin".  It was also released as the third single and the band's second most successful single to date.  The song was mostly written by Ben Moody who wrote it after the death of his grandfather and lead singer Amy Lee wrote the middle and the coinciding piano part of the song.  It was the last single to feature Ben Moody.  I didn't like the song at first but after a couple of listens over the years, I've liked it.  10/10

5) Haunted: This song was based on a story that Ben Moody wrote.  This song scared me for awhile and still does sometimes.  The story that the song is based on is creepy as well.  8/10

6) Tourniquet: This is song was originally performed by the rock band "Soul Embraced" and was titled "My Tourniquet".  The main differences between this and the original, other than the vocals, is that Amy Lee wrote a second verse and a melody for the song.  The song is one of my favorites, although for awhile the final lyrics in the song "my suicide" did scare me.  10/10

7) Imaginary: Like "My Immortal", this song was one of the band's earlier songs, also appearing on the same eps and demo cd as "My Immortal".  For awhile it was supposed to be the fourth and final single from the album, but "Everybody's Fool" was the fourth single instead.  "Imaginary" was released as a radio single in the Spain though.  I actually prefer the version of the song that was on "Origin".  8/10

8) Taking Over Me: This song is about obsession.  Being obsessed with some who you think is the one.  It's a creepy song but some people are like that.  It's probably my least favorite song on the album though.  7/10

9) Hello: One of the most personal songs that Amy Lee has written.  It's about one of her sisters who passed away.  Despite being a beautiful ballad it is a sad song.  10/10

10) My Last Breath: The 9/11 attacks in New York City inspired this song.  It's another one of my favorites and I would've loved to see a video for this song.  10/10

11) Whisper: Like "My Immortal" and "Imaginary" it is one of the band's earlier songs.  It was featured on their "Sound Asleep (Whisper) Ep" and their demo album "Origin".  It is the most hard rock song on the album and one of the darkest as well.  10/10

"Fallen" is my favorite album from Evanescence and although they're on hiatus now, I'll be excited when they release a new album.  My favorite song on the album are: "Going Under", "Everybody's Fool", "Bring Me to Life", "My Last Breath", "Whisper", "Tourniquet" and "My Immortal".  Out of 110 points I give the song 103 which 93%, an A.  No surprise since Evanescence is awesome!

Raven-Symoné: Raven-Symoné Album Review

She's known for playing Olivia on "The Cosby Show", Raven from "That's So Raven", and doing the voice of Iridessa in the Tinkerbell movies.  But aside from acting, Raven-Symoné has also released 4 albums, "Here's to New Dreams", "Undeniable", "This Is My Time", and her self-tilted, "Raven-Symoné", which is the album I'll be reviewing today.  Here's my track by track review.

1) That Girl: This song was initially titled "Got It Girl" but the titled was changed because of a song on the album being titled "Girl Get It".  It's really upbeat and a great introduction for the album.  10/10

2) Anti-Love Song: This was supposed to be the second single from the album, but for unknown reasons it was scrapped.  The song talks about how a relationship has ended but the narrator doesn't want to talk about with lyrics, "don't wanna talk about how he broke my heart, don't wanna talk about how we fell apart".  It's one of my favorite songs on the album.  10/10

3) In the Pictures: A snippet of the song was played in Raven's film, "College Road Trip".  A lot of people who are graduating from school can relate to this one.  10/10

4) What Are You Gonna Do?: Like "Anti-Love Song", "What Are You Gonna Do?" was also supposed to be the second but it was also cancelled.  I question why both releases were cancelled considering they're both better than "Double Dutch Bus".  This song is perfect radio and would've been a hit if it's release wasn't cancelled.  10/10

5) Green: This is an okay song.  It's not bad, but it's not amazing.  6/10

6) Love Me or Leave Me: WOW!  Her vocals are amazing on this song!  This amazing ballad showcases Raven's vocal talent perfectly.  This song is arguably one of, if not the best song on this album.  10/10

7) In Your Skin: I like how the song is saying "be comfortable in your skin", but aside from that it doesn't stand out as much as the other songs do.  6/10

8) Stupid: Like "What Are You Gonna Do?", "Stupid" was produced by Sean Garrett.  I debated about this song for awhile.  Raven's vocals and the production work but it doesn't feel like Raven is giving her all into the song.  8/10

9) Girl Get It: Despite it's great production, the song is kinda boring.  6/10

10) Keep a Friend: Great message, somewhat okay song.  6/10

11) Shorts Like Me: WHOA.  This song is really good.  It's only downfall it that it sounds like "That Girl" part 2 with confident lyrics and similar production.  7/10

12) Hollywood Life: This song reminds me of her song "Alice", from "This Is My Time".  Her vocals are amazing and the lyrics are great but for some odd reason I always skip this song.  I don't know why.  7/10

13) Double Dutch Bus: The first and only single from the album.  The song was originally recorded by Frankie Smith.  Like "In The Pictures", "Double Dutch Bus" was also featured in her film "College Road Trip".  I question why this song was the first single, because it's not good.  Despite that her version has an updated R&B and hip hop sound, it's still boring.  5/10

14) Face to Face: This was a bonus track on the Australian version of the album.  This amazing ballad should've been on the standard edition instead of "Double Dutch Bus".  10/10

Raven was working on her fifth album but she ended up scrapping it because it apparently wasn't sell able.  It's a shame because I really wanted to hear it.  Hopefully it'll be released one day.  My favorite songs on this album are: "Anti-Love Song", "What Are You Gonna Do?", "Love Me or Leave Me", "Face to Face", "That Girl", and "In The Pictures".  Out of 140 points I give it 111 points which is 79%, a C+.  Awesome job Raven!

Diana Vickers: Music to Make Boys Cry Album

Diana Vickers first came onto the scene when she was on the 5th series of U.K.'s "The X-Factor", where she got 4th place.  She then released her first album, "Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree".  The album had two singles, "Once" which hit number 1 in the U.K. and "The Boy Who Murdered Love" which peaked in the top 40.  She then released a single called "My Wicked Heart" before parting ways with her label.  At the time she had begun recording her second album.  Thankfully she signed with another label and released this album, "Music to Make Boys Cry".  Here's my track by track review of the album.

1) Music to Make Boys Cry: The title track and the album's second single.  When I first heard it I thought it was stupid and a bad choice to be a single.  Then the chorus got stuck in my head and I started to like the song a lot.  10/10

2) Cinderella: The first single from the album.  This was actually the first song I had ever heard from Diana Vickers and I instantly liked it.  The video and the song are great and this was a good choice to release as a single.  10/10

3) Lightning Strikes: This is my favorite song on the whole album.  It fun to dance to and love the guitar parts in the song.  It just make the song cooler.  Hopefully it'll be a single!  10/10

4) Dead Heat: This song get stuck in my head!  The chorus, "It's not a matter of love and death, but if I had to choose between love and breath, I'd sacrifice the sun, I wouldn't have to think, Forever so long in time without you".  The beat is also very catchy.  10/10

5) Boy In Paris: Some parts of this song reminds me of the music from the Sega genesis games, which is actually cool.  The song has a lot of single potential and like "Lightning Strikes" it has great lyrics and a great beat to dance to.  10/10

6) Mad at Me: This is apparently the third single.  Not sure why though.  After the last 5 songs, this one kinda sounds average.  Maybe if I listen to it a few more times it'll grow on me.  7/10

7) Smoke: Initially I didn't like the song but after seeing a video of the song on youtube, I started to listen to song more and now I love it.  Her vocals on the song are amazing.  10/10

8) Mr.Postman: Boring!  4/10

9) Better in French: Another bland and boring song.  Even the parts she sings in french can't save this song.  4/10

10) Blame Game: I was gonna give this one a 4 because I feel like it's a song that everyone's heard a million times before, but her vocals are awesome.  5/10

In the end, Diana Vicker's second album, "Music to Make Boys Cry" is half amazing, half boring.  My favorite songs are: "Lightning Strikes", "Music to Make Boys Cry", "Cinderella", "Boy In Paris", "Smoke", and "Dead Heat".  Out of 100 points I give it 80 points which is 80% a B.  Awesome job, Diana, can't wait until you release your next album!

Jennifer Paige: Positively Somewhere Album Review

Jennifer Paige is most known for her single "Crush" which became a hit 1998.  Over the years she hasn't had the single reach the same success.  This is shocking considering she's had so many great songs that sound just as, if not better, than "Crush".  Her second album, "Positively Somewhere" is proof of that.  Here's my track by track review of the album.

1) These Days: This was the first single from the album.  It didn't get much notice since it didn't have a video.  It was also a cover that was originally sung by Australian pop band, Bardot.  The album's title comes from one of the lyrics in the song.  It's really cool how the third verse is rock while the rest of the song is pop.  10/10

2) Here With Me: A cover that was originally performed by Plumb.  I have to say I like Jennifer's version more than Plumb's.  Great song that should've been a single.  10/10

3) Stranded: Another cover that was originally performed by Plumb.  It was released as the second and final single from the album.  Unlike "These Days", "Stranded" attracted a little more attention.  It also had a video.  Sadly it only got moderate, which is strange because it's a great song.  10/10

4) Make Me: Finally a song that wasn't a cover.  This one is one of my favorites on the album.  I question why it wasn't released as the first single since it would've been a hit on radio and been successful.  10/10

5) Way Of The World: And we return to cover songs.  This song was originally sung by Don Philip.  I prefer Jennifer's version of the song though.  It's very uplifting and happy.  10/10

6) Not This Time: This was co-written by Jennifer herself.  The music to the song sounds so similar to "Make Me", which is a little strange but for some reason it works.  The song is about not giving the guy another chance but he keeps lying.  10/10

7) You Get Through: This is probably my favorite song on the album.  It's amazing empowering ballad that's lyrically great, vocally fantastic, and musically beautiful.  Why wasn't it released as a single?  10/10

8) Feel So Far Away: From seven great songs to one song that's not so great.  This song isn't as memorable as the other ones.  7/10

9) The Edge: I liked this song at first, but I think because I've listened to it so many times, I've gotten a little tired of it.  The chorus is amazing.  7/10

10) Tell Me When: This song feels like a carbon copy of her song, "Busted", from her first album.  It's good, but again not as memorable.  7/10

11) Stay The Night: I've been debating about this song for the past couple weeks.  Sometimes I like it and other days I think it's the worst song on the album.  The verses are great but the chorus is the song's major downfall.  7/10

12) Vapor: This is another one of my favorites.  I love the lyric, "I wanna be vapor, and disappear sometimes".  I know that feeling.  Great song to end the album.  10/10

It's shame that Jennifer Paige's "Positively Somewhere" didn't get the success it should've got.  It one of the most underrated pop albums that should've been a hit.  My favorite songs are : "Vapor", "You Get Through", "Make Me", "These Days", "Stranded", "Here With Me" and "Way Of The World".  Out of 120 points I give it 108 points which is 90%, an A.  Not surprised this it's a great album.  Awesome job Jennifer, can't wait for your next album!
