Jennifer Paige: Positively Somewhere Album Review

Jennifer Paige is most known for her single "Crush" which became a hit 1998.  Over the years she hasn't had the single reach the same success.  This is shocking considering she's had so many great songs that sound just as, if not better, than "Crush".  Her second album, "Positively Somewhere" is proof of that.  Here's my track by track review of the album.

1) These Days: This was the first single from the album.  It didn't get much notice since it didn't have a video.  It was also a cover that was originally sung by Australian pop band, Bardot.  The album's title comes from one of the lyrics in the song.  It's really cool how the third verse is rock while the rest of the song is pop.  10/10

2) Here With Me: A cover that was originally performed by Plumb.  I have to say I like Jennifer's version more than Plumb's.  Great song that should've been a single.  10/10

3) Stranded: Another cover that was originally performed by Plumb.  It was released as the second and final single from the album.  Unlike "These Days", "Stranded" attracted a little more attention.  It also had a video.  Sadly it only got moderate, which is strange because it's a great song.  10/10

4) Make Me: Finally a song that wasn't a cover.  This one is one of my favorites on the album.  I question why it wasn't released as the first single since it would've been a hit on radio and been successful.  10/10

5) Way Of The World: And we return to cover songs.  This song was originally sung by Don Philip.  I prefer Jennifer's version of the song though.  It's very uplifting and happy.  10/10

6) Not This Time: This was co-written by Jennifer herself.  The music to the song sounds so similar to "Make Me", which is a little strange but for some reason it works.  The song is about not giving the guy another chance but he keeps lying.  10/10

7) You Get Through: This is probably my favorite song on the album.  It's amazing empowering ballad that's lyrically great, vocally fantastic, and musically beautiful.  Why wasn't it released as a single?  10/10

8) Feel So Far Away: From seven great songs to one song that's not so great.  This song isn't as memorable as the other ones.  7/10

9) The Edge: I liked this song at first, but I think because I've listened to it so many times, I've gotten a little tired of it.  The chorus is amazing.  7/10

10) Tell Me When: This song feels like a carbon copy of her song, "Busted", from her first album.  It's good, but again not as memorable.  7/10

11) Stay The Night: I've been debating about this song for the past couple weeks.  Sometimes I like it and other days I think it's the worst song on the album.  The verses are great but the chorus is the song's major downfall.  7/10

12) Vapor: This is another one of my favorites.  I love the lyric, "I wanna be vapor, and disappear sometimes".  I know that feeling.  Great song to end the album.  10/10

It's shame that Jennifer Paige's "Positively Somewhere" didn't get the success it should've got.  It one of the most underrated pop albums that should've been a hit.  My favorite songs are : "Vapor", "You Get Through", "Make Me", "These Days", "Stranded", "Here With Me" and "Way Of The World".  Out of 120 points I give it 108 points which is 90%, an A.  Not surprised this it's a great album.  Awesome job Jennifer, can't wait for your next album!
