Diana Vickers: Music to Make Boys Cry Album

Diana Vickers first came onto the scene when she was on the 5th series of U.K.'s "The X-Factor", where she got 4th place.  She then released her first album, "Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree".  The album had two singles, "Once" which hit number 1 in the U.K. and "The Boy Who Murdered Love" which peaked in the top 40.  She then released a single called "My Wicked Heart" before parting ways with her label.  At the time she had begun recording her second album.  Thankfully she signed with another label and released this album, "Music to Make Boys Cry".  Here's my track by track review of the album.

1) Music to Make Boys Cry: The title track and the album's second single.  When I first heard it I thought it was stupid and a bad choice to be a single.  Then the chorus got stuck in my head and I started to like the song a lot.  10/10

2) Cinderella: The first single from the album.  This was actually the first song I had ever heard from Diana Vickers and I instantly liked it.  The video and the song are great and this was a good choice to release as a single.  10/10

3) Lightning Strikes: This is my favorite song on the whole album.  It fun to dance to and love the guitar parts in the song.  It just make the song cooler.  Hopefully it'll be a single!  10/10

4) Dead Heat: This song get stuck in my head!  The chorus, "It's not a matter of love and death, but if I had to choose between love and breath, I'd sacrifice the sun, I wouldn't have to think, Forever so long in time without you".  The beat is also very catchy.  10/10

5) Boy In Paris: Some parts of this song reminds me of the music from the Sega genesis games, which is actually cool.  The song has a lot of single potential and like "Lightning Strikes" it has great lyrics and a great beat to dance to.  10/10

6) Mad at Me: This is apparently the third single.  Not sure why though.  After the last 5 songs, this one kinda sounds average.  Maybe if I listen to it a few more times it'll grow on me.  7/10

7) Smoke: Initially I didn't like the song but after seeing a video of the song on youtube, I started to listen to song more and now I love it.  Her vocals on the song are amazing.  10/10

8) Mr.Postman: Boring!  4/10

9) Better in French: Another bland and boring song.  Even the parts she sings in french can't save this song.  4/10

10) Blame Game: I was gonna give this one a 4 because I feel like it's a song that everyone's heard a million times before, but her vocals are awesome.  5/10

In the end, Diana Vicker's second album, "Music to Make Boys Cry" is half amazing, half boring.  My favorite songs are: "Lightning Strikes", "Music to Make Boys Cry", "Cinderella", "Boy In Paris", "Smoke", and "Dead Heat".  Out of 100 points I give it 80 points which is 80% a B.  Awesome job, Diana, can't wait until you release your next album!
