Ashlee Simpson: I Am Me Album Review

I reviewed Ashlee Simpson's first album, "Autobiography" about a week ago, and today I'm reviewing her second album "I Am Me".  "I Am Me" was released a year after "Autobiography" was released.  While the album wasn't as popular as her first album, it stilled debuted at number 1 in the U.S.  So here's my track by track review:

1) Boyfriend: The first single from the album.  The song was rumored to be about Lindsay Lohan since there were rumors at the time that Ashlee was dating Lindsay's ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama.  The song is Ashlee's second biggest single to date.  10/10

2) In Another Life: Before the album was titled "I Am Me", it was called "In Another Life".  That being said, "In Another Life" is an amazing song.  The song is about meeting a person who you feel you've known for a long time despite it being the first time you've ever met.  10/10

3) Beautifully Broken: This song is my favorite song on the whole album.  It's an amazing ballad that talks about overcoming failure.  Ashlee wrote it about her incident on "Saturday Night Live" back in 2004.  10/10

4) L.O.V.E.: Lala part 2?  This song is the second and sadly last single from the album.  It was almost the first single from the album but thankfully it was switched to "Boyfriend".  The song sounds like a boring version of Lala.  I don't know why it was a single at all.  5/10

5) Coming Back for More: Described as a song that is an upbeat song about an not ending a relationship with an ex-boyfriend.  Although a very upbeat song, I kinda find it boring.  5/10

6) Dancing Alone: I didn't really like this song when I first got the album because sounded like a boring pop song.  I like listening to the song nowadays and I find it better than the previous two songs.  8/10

7) Burning Up: No, this is not a cover of a Madonna song, although Ashlee did cover the song when she was on tour in 2004.  To me her vocals seem very weak and lazy on this song.  5/10

8) Catch Me When I Fall: Like "Beautifully Broken", this song was about Ashlee's incident on "Saturday Night Live" in 2004.  Funny enough in 2005, she sang "Catch Me When I Fall" when she returned to "Saturday Night Live".  The song at one point was rumored to be the third single from the album since it charted on the Billboard Pop 100 charts due to downloads.  It's a shame this song wasn't a single.  10/10

9) I Am Me: The title track.  I love this song.  The song is an empowering song saying that you are who you are, you're proud of that, and you're not gonna change for someone.  This song was really helpful during my high school years.  9/10

10) Eyes Wide Open: Ashlee said that she wrote this song about a ghost that she thought was haunting her house.  The song is much more darker than the rest of the album and I think it would've been perfect for the "Kingdom Hearts 2 Soundtrack".  10/10

11) Say Goodbye: The last song on the album.  It talks about ending a relationship.  While the music to the song is beautiful, the overall song feels a little boring.  6/10

While I wish Ashlee Simpson would release her fourth album already, I still love listening to her old stuff.  My favorite songs on the album are: "Beautifully Broken", " I Am Me", "In Another Life", "Boyfriend", "Catch Me When I Fall".  Out of 110 points I give the album 88 points which is 80%, a B.  Pretty good!
