A*Teens: New Arrival Album Review

A*Teens were the first band I listened to as a kid, and many years later I still love their music.  Yesterday I reviewed the A*Teens' "Pop 'til You Drop!" and while that album was released exclusively for the U.S., and later Mexico, "New Arrival" was released as the group's third album everywhere else except for Mexico where it was their fourth album.  "New Arrival included songs from "Pop 'til You Drop", 6 new songs, and a different version of a previous song.  The album's title came from "ABBA's" album "Arrival", now if only I knew what inspired "Pop 'til You Drop!".  Here's my track by take review:

1) Floorfiller: While this song was released as the second single on "Pop 'til You Drop!", it was released as the first single from this album.  It's a good song to dance to and it's good to see it on this album.  9/10

2) Have a Little Faith in Me: The first new song on the album.  It was included on some promo versions of "Pop 'til You Drop!".  When I first saw the song, I thought it was a cover of "John Hiatt's" song.  I was surprised to see that it wasn't.  It's a great song and it should've been released as a single.  10/10

3) Shame Shame Shame: This is a cover of "Shirley & Company's" song.  I don't see why they put this on the album because it's very forgettable.  3/10

4) Let Your Heart Do All the Talking: The third and final single from this album, as well as the third and final single from "Pop 'til You Drop!".  The song was given a new mix when it was released as a single.  Both versions were great.  9/10

5) A Perfect Match: The second single from the album.  The song is about how two people are complete opposites but they are still perfect for each.  The video was great and I wish it was released in the U.S.  10/10

6) The Letter: I was shocked that this song was a cover.  It was originally performed by "The Box Tops".  It's not a bad song but it repeats the same verse and chorus and it gets annoying pretty quickly.  7/10

7) Cross My Heart: It's good to see this song on the album because it's one of my favorites on "Pop 'til You Drop!"  When I first heard the song, I couldn't stop listening to it.  It should've been a single!  10/10

8) In the Blink of an Eye: I reviewed this song yesterday in my review for "Pop 'til You Drop!", yes I know I didn't say that about "Floorfiller" and "Cross My Heart" but I didn't have much to say about this song.  Sorry!  It's still a great ballad.  8/10

9) School's Out (featuring Alice Cooper): Unlike the other songs that were on "Pop 'til You Drop!", this song had a slight change in it.  The ending had more of Alice's vocals in the chorus, whereas on "Pop 'til You Drop!" he didn't have much of a feature.  7/10

10) Closer to Perfection: Yay!  My other favorite song from "Pop 'til You Drop!".  It's very empowering song and like I said yesterday in my review for "Pop 'til You Drop!", it should've been a single!  10/10

11) Shangri-La: I cannot stand this song!  It's a cheesy love song and I've tried to like the song but I just can't.  4/10

12) One Night in Bangkok: This a cover song that was originally recorded by "Murray Head".  I had no idea it was a cover until a couple years after I heard the A*Teens version.  My bad!  They did a great version of the song and I love the chorus.  Wish it had a video.  10/10

13) Can't Help Falling in Love: This was a bonus track on some editions of the album.  While it was a single from "Pop 'til You Drop", it wasn't a single on this album.  It still charted since it was a single from "Lilo & Stitch the Movie".  Great version of the song.  9/10

14) Heartbreak Lullaby (Ballad Version): This was also a bonus track on some versions of the album.  The "Ray Hedges  7 Mix"version of the song was released as a single for "The Princess Diaries Soundtrack".  I was scared to listen to the ballad version because I love the other version of the song but I'm glad I listened to it.  It feels like there's more emotion on the ballad version.  9/10

"New Arrival" was the A*Teens' last album before they released a greatest hits album and broke up.  There have been rumors about them reuniting and I'm not sure if they're true but it would be awesome if they were.  My favorite songs on the album are: "Cross My Heart", "Closer to Perfection", "One Night in Bangkok", "Have a Little Faith in Me", "A Perfect Match", "Can't Help Falling in Love", "Heartbreak Lullaby (Ballad Version)", and "Floorfiller".  Out of 140 points I give the album 115 which is 82%, a B.  Thank you for reading this review and if you haven't please check out this album (if you live in the U.S. you can hear the songs on youtube.)
