Marie Serneholt: Enjoy the Ride Album Review

I think it's obvious that I'm obsessed with the A*Teens these days, so it only makes sense to review one of the group member's solo albums.  Dhani's released a single and a song of his leaked so I can't do one for him (though I'm tempted to do a singles only review for many artists now).  Sara released a few singles and an album titled "Back to You" leaked onto the internet a year or two ago, however because it wasn't officially released I can't review it.  Amit released a single and an album called "Songs In a Key of Mine" but I haven't heard it yet so I can't review that either.  So that leaves Marie who released five singles, so far, and an album called "Enjoy the Ride".  I have heard that album thankfully, because if not I'd be doing a review at the last minute...  kinda like right now...  oops!  Anyway here is my track by track review:

1) Enjoy the Ride: The title track.  The guitar intro in the song is really cool.  My favorite part in the song is when she sings the chorus at the end when the music changes.  Should've been the second single instead of "I Need A House".  10/10

2) Wasted Love: The song is about wasting all your time and effort in a relationship that ended but you know that you'll be okay.  The song is okay but it's a little forgettable sometimes.  7/10

3) That's the Way My Heart Goes: The first single from the album.  The verses are annoying but the chorus makes up for it.  The song was hit in Sweden where it peaked at number 2.  The video was somewhat boring.  9/10

4) I Need a House: The second single from the album.  The song and video were both pretty boring.  The song hit number 40 in Sweden.  Not sure why it was a single in the first place.  4/10

5) Beyond Tonight: It's a great ballad, but it's not as memorable as some of the other songs on the album.  I hope it'll grow on me.  5/10

6) I Love Making Love in the Morning: Well, this song has a very straight forward title.  It's a cute lovey dovey song with a pretty good beat.  6/10

7) The Boy I Used to Know: This song is about how two people are in the relationship and the girl is wondering why her boyfriend has changed from who he was when they first stared dating.  It's pretty catchy.  8/10

8) Calling All Detectives: This is my favorite song on the album.  It's talks about knowing that your lover is cheating and yet they still continue to lie about it despite all the signs.  Why wasn't this song a single?!  10/10

9) Can't Be Loved: The song talks girl doesn't want to be loved by anyone except one certain person.  The girl is also willing to be anything the boy wants just to get his love.  Despite the talking part in the intro, the song is really good.  10/10

10) Oxygen: The third and final single from the album.  I ignored the song when I first heard it back in 2006, but after listening to it the last two days I can honestly say it's an amazing ballad.  In the video Marie was seen floating in the air during the chorus, as well as laying in a bed in the beginning like "Faith Hill" in her video for "Breathe".  Sadly the song didn't chart in Sweden which is shocking.  10/10

Marie released two singles after the album was released.  The first was "Disconnect Me", which had that is on youtube, and the second was "Salt and Pepper".  Marie has also done alot of hosting and was even a judge on the Swedish version of X Factor.  My favorite songs on the album are: "Calling All Detectives", "Enjoy the Ride", "Can't Be Loved", "Oxygen", and "That's the Way My Heart Goes".  Out of 100 points I give the album 79 which is 79%, a C+.  Not bad for a first album.  Hopefully Marie will release a second album, especially since it's been 9 years since "Enjoy the Ride" was released.  Thanks for reading this review and I apologize for it being so late!
