The Veronicas: The Veronicas Album Review

One of my favorite bands is the amazing, Australian duo, "The Veronicas".  The band is twin sisters "Jessica Origliasso and Lisa Origliasso".  Their first single "4ever" was released almost 10 years ago, and since then the girls have continued to be success.  Their third album, the self-titled, "The Veronicas", was released in late 2014 (last month if you live in the U.S. and about 2 weeks ago if you live in the UK).  The album took the girls awhile to released.  It was initially recorded as "Life on Mars" and they had started working on it back in 2010.  However 3 years went by and only one single was released called "Lolita".  Despite the song's success an album wasn't released and the girls left their then label, "Sire Records".  Thankfully they signed to "Sony Music Entertainment" in 2014 and released "The Veronicas".  Here's my track by track review:

1) Sanctified: This song has a dark southern rock kinda vibe to it.  The song received a remix that's pretty cool but that remix made the song less than a minute and a half.  The overall song is amazing and I wouldn't be surprised if it was released as the fourth single in the future.  10/10

2) Did You Miss Me (I'm a Veronica): In this song the girls rap like they did on "Popular" from their last album, "Hook Me Up".  In this song the girls have made it clear that they're back and they're here to stay.  Part of the song was used in their two episode webseries also titled "Did You Miss Me".  Well a lot of people did miss them and we're glad they're back.  10/10

3) Cruel: The third single from the album.  This is my favorite song on the whole album.  I was so excited when it was released as a single and had a video.  The song is about being out of a relationship with someone and even though you don't want them back, you hate seeing them with someone else.  In the video the girls trap a guy in their car, but he escapes to a hotel only to be captured by the girls again.  They tie his hands up but he's able to get the rope off while they're driving.  At the end of the video it seems the guy has won as he drives off feeling victorious, that is until one of the girls presses a button that causes the car to explode.  10/10

4) Line of Fire: When this song was released to the public, there were rumors that this song was the second single.  The rumors were later false as "If You Love Someone" was the second single instead.  The verses start off a little soft and low before the chorus comes in loud!  Another great song, hopefully it'll be a single.  10/10

5) Teenage Millionaire: This was one of the songs the girls wrote after they left their old label.  It has an awesome guitar intro in the beginning and the chorus is also amazing.  It's about how someone makes you feel happy.  10/10

6) Born Bob Dylan: Continuing with amazing songs is this amazing ballad.  It was originally on the album they recorded with their previous label before that album was scrapped.  It's about wishing you had the confidence to speak your mind and not be afraid of how people would feel about what you say.  It's an amazing song musically and lyrically.  10/10

7) Always: Like the last song, this is also a ballad.  It was co-written by singer/songwriter "Emeli Sande".  It's an okay song but I think I'd would've been better if it was performed by Emeli instead.  6/10

8) Mad Love: One of the more pop sounding songs on the album, this song is about how you love someone so much but they drive you insane.  Anyone relate to that?  I would love to see a video for this song and it's strange to think they been singing the song live for over a year before the album was released and that the song is just as amazing now as it was then.  10/10

9) You Ruin Me: The first single from the album.  The song is a piano ballad about a relationship that has ended.  The vocals and music are flawless.  The video was also amazing, especially when they put they tied up the guy in the trunk of their car...  Now that I think about it, made this song's video was the prequel to "Cruel's" video.  Plus "Cruel" was heard in the beginning of the video.  The song hit number 1 in Australia.  10/10

10) More Like Me: This song is about an ex's new girlfriend who is jealous of you because she's not as great as you were.  Funny thing is you don't care but the current girlfriend does.  The lyric "If you were more like me, you'd have f***ed a little harder" because it shocked me at first but it's one of my favorite parts of the song.  Props for going there (I don't mean for that to sound dirty!)  10/10

11) If You Love Someone: The second single from the album.  It's a very upbeat song about how the narrator encourages the listen, if they love someone, that they have to do something about it.  I really like the song and it was a hit in Australia where it peaked at number 5.  10/10

12) Cold: This song is about a relationship that is done.  You can feel the raw anger and emotions in this song.  I'd hate to be the jerk that inspired this song.  9/10

13) Let Me Out: This song is mainly played on acoustic guitar.  It's about not knowing where you stand in the relationship and the worst part is the other person doesn't really care.  It's a sad song.  8/10

14) You and Me: This song is more happy sounding song than the previous songs.  This seems to be about the twins relationship with each other and how no matter what happens they'll always have each other's backs.  Perfect way to end the album.  9/10

The Veronica's third album is, in my opinion their best album so.  They're planning on releasing a deluxe version of the album with 7 new tracks.  I can't wait for that!  I love all the songs on the album.  Out of 140 points I give the album 132 points which 94%, an A.  Thank you for reading this review!
